FARMINGTON, Utah (April 13, 2026) – The Big Sky Conference announced its Player of the Week honors, presented by
JAMBAR, with men's tennis, women's tennis, men's golf, women’s golf, softball and outdoor track & field all in action.
Big Sky Softball Player of the Week (April 13, 2026)
Softball Player of the Week: Madi Mendoza, Sacramento State (SS, Jr., El Paso, Tex.)
Junior Madi Mendoza helped the Hornets to a 2-1 series win over Montana. The shortstop hit a robust .727 (8-for-11) with three doubles, a homer, two stolen bases, 14 total bases and three RBIs. She also posted a .750 on-base percentage, 1.273 slugging percentage and a 2.023 ops. Mendoza had multiple-hit, and multiple-RBI games in all three contests while also tallying at least one extra base hit in each game. That included scoring two runs in the opener, and three runs in both the second and third games.
In Game 1, Mendoza was 3-for-4 with a double, stolen base and two runs scored, and followed that in Game 2 by going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and an RBI. In Saturday’s rubber game, the El Paso, Texas, native went 2-for-4 with three runs, a homer, walk, stolen base and two RBIs.

Big Sky Softball Pitcher of the Week (April 13, 2026)
Softball Pitcher of the Week: Lizzy Tommasini, Idaho State (P, R-So., Eagle, Idaho.)
Lizzy Tommasini was dominant in her lone start as Idaho State went 2-1 in its Big Sky Conference series at Northern Colorado. The right-hander earned the win while throwing six complete innings, allowing zero runs on two hits while walking two and striking out one. Tommasini held Northern Colorado to a .105 batting average in her shutout performance.

Big Sky Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week (April 13, 2026)
Men's Track Athlete of the Week: Idaho 4x100m Relay Team
Tying for the best time in the league this season, Idaho’s 4x100m relay team has been named Men’s Track Athlete of the Week. The group comprised of Jarae Long, Cash Jones, Mateo Ganje and Keenan Kuntz clocked a 40.15 at the Whitworth 2nd Jeffrahn Classic to tie for the conference lead with Montana State. Kuntz was named Men’s Track Athlete of the Week individually after the first week of the season.

Men's Field Athlete of the Week: Wyatt Larkins, Weber State (Fr., Braintree Essex, United Kingdom)
For the second-consecutive week, Weber State’s Wyatt Larkins has been named Big Sky Men’s Field Athlete of the Week. While he already has the league-lead in the hammer throw, the freshman had a toss of 63.48m (208-3) at the WSU Spring Classic this past weekend, which would have been the third-best mark in the Big Sky so far this season.

Women's Track Athlete of the Week: Idaho 4x100m Relay Team
Also tying for the conference lead in the 4x100m relay, Idaho’s team comprised Rhyan Madden, Jana Willems, Ashley Hollenbeck-Willems, Alyssa Marsh have been named Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. The unit ran a 44.90 at the Whitworth 2nd Jeffrahn Classic, which put them in a tie with Montana on top of the Big Sky leaderboard.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week: Hanna Tait, Idaho (So., Grafton, Australia)
Taking the Big Sky lead in the heptathlon has earned Idaho’s Hanna Tait Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors. Tait scored a 5,511 at the Bryan Clay Multi Event to set the Big Sky standard. That mark also puts her No. 22 in the NCAA for the heptathlon.
