Leading his Vikings to a pair of road victories, and a 7-0 Big Sky record, has earned Portland State’s Terri Miller Jr. Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors

FARMINGTON, Utah (Jan. 27, 2026) – As January comes to a close action across the Big Sky Conference men’s basketball landscape is heating up, with several big matchups set for this weekend.

PSU’s Miller Jr. Named Player of the Week
 
Leading his Vikings to a pair of road victories, and a 7-0 Big Sky record, has earned Portland State’s Terri Miller Jr. Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors. Miller Jr. averaged 25.5 points per game against both Eastern Washington and Idaho to sweep another road swing. He dropped 29 against Idaho, with 20 of those points coming in the second half. PSU’s 7-0 start is the best undefeated start in Big Sky play and longest winning streak since 2007-08.
 
This marks his first weekly honor from the Big Sky Conference. Miller Jr. is the third Portland State player to earn the award this season, joining teammates Jaylin Henderson and Tre-Vaughn Minott.
 
Vikings Remain Unbeaten
 
Through seven Big Sky contests the Vikings of Portland State are still unbeaten heading into this week of action. They’re 4-0 in Big Sky play on the road, and 3-0 at home. Overall, they’re 13-5 with a 7-1 record in Viking Pavilion.
 
Clash of the Titans
 
The Vikings have a massive home stand this weekend, as they’ll play host to Montana on Thursday and Montana State on Saturday. The Bobcats and Grizzlies are second and third in the Big Sky standings respectively.
 
Montana State will enter the weekend with a 7-1 record in Big Sky play, starting 5-0 at home in league action. The Bobcats have won four-consecutive contests.
 
Stat Leaders
 
Through 17 appearances PSU’s Miller Jr. is the Big Sky’s leading scorer, averaging 19.6 points per game. He’s closely followed by Montana’s Money Williams, who is averaging 19.0 ppg through 21 contests. Both Miller Jr. and Williams were named to the Preseason All-Conference Team, where Williams was tabbed Preseason MVP. Eastern Washington’s Isaiah Moses is the league’s third leading scorer, averaging 17.9 points per game in 20 contests.
 
Portland State’s Tre-Vaughn Minott is the league’s top rebounder, pulling down 8.8 boards per contest. He is followed by Sacramento State’s Prophet Johnson, who is averaging 8.2 rebounds per game.
 
SAC’s Johnson is also the league-leader for steals, with an average of 2.6 across 18 contests for a total of 46 on the season.
 
Northern Colorado’s Quinn Denker is the Big Sky leader for assists, dishing out 6.8 per game for a total of 130 through 19 games played.
 
Idaho State’s Evan Otten leads the Big Sky in blocks with 36 across 21 games played for an average of 1.7 per game.
 
The Northern Colorado Bears lead the Big Sky in total team offense, averaging 83.1 points per game. The Montana State Bobcats and Portland State Vikings are tied for the lead in total team defense, as both teams are allowing just 70.7 points per game.
