NAU Women’s XC Ranked in Preseason Top-10 Nationally; Eight Big Sky Teams Earn Regional Recognition

In the Mountain Region, NAU’s women were tabbed No. 3, and the men were slotted at No. 4

FARMINGTON, Utah (Aug. 27, 2025) – The 2025 men’s and women’s cross country campaigns begin on Friday, with several Big Sky teams being recognized both nationally and regionally leading up to the first races.
 
The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA) released its Preseason National Poll yesterday, which tabbed Northern Arizona’s women’s team No. 10 in the country and the Lumberjack men No. 14.
 
Earlier this month, Northern Arizona were each named Big Sky Conference favorites.
 
The Lumberjacks have completed four-consecutive combined sweeps of the Big Sky titles.
 
In the Mountain Region, NAU’s women were tabbed No. 3, and the men were slotted at No. 4.
 
Both Montana State programs were ranked in the Mountain Region, with the men checking in at No. 7 and women being slotted at No. 10.
 
Weber State saw both programs receive recognition as well, with their men being ranked No. 9 and women coming in at No. 12.
 
In the women’s poll regionally, Idaho State was ranked No. 13 and Northern Colorado was put at No. 14.
 
Big Sky teams will be in action on both Friday and Saturday this weekend to officially begin this season’s campaign.
 
The 2025 Big Sky Conference Championships will be held in Bozeman, Montana on November 1.
