Northern Arizona Voted Preseason Cross Country Favorites

Northern Arizona’s women are unanimous favorites, receiving all 10 first-place votes

FARMINGTON, Utah (Aug. 18, 2025) – The Big Sky Conference office has released the results of its 2025 Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Preseason Coaches’ Polls, which pinpoint the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona as the league favorites.

This poll was voted on by the league’s head coaches. For this poll, coaches are permitted to vote for their own team.

Northern Arizona’s women are unanimous favorites, receiving all 10 first-place votes. The Lumberjack women have claimed six-consecutive Big Sky Conference titles, dating back to 2019. Last season in Pocatello, they scored just 15 points en route to victory.

On the men’s side, the Lumberjacks have claimed four-consecutive Big Sky titles, with that run starting in 2021. They received all but one first-place vote from the league’s head coaches. At the 2024 championship they scored 25 points, placing six student-athletes in the top-10.

The Lumberjacks have completed four-consecutive combined sweeps of the Big Sky titles.

Montana State was picked second in both men’s and women’s polls, as the Bobcats have finished runner-up in both championships for two-consecutive seasons.

Weber State was selected third in both polls, while Idaho State was slotted fourth on each side.
