2025 #BigSkySB Weekly Notebook: Season Recap

FARMINGTON, Utah (May 20, 2025) – The Wildcats kept their strong postseason run rolling through regionals, recording their first win in the national tournament since 2019, but it wasnt enough to make it out of the Eugene regional, putting an end to their season.

‘Cats Crowned Champions  

The 2025 Big Sky Softball Championship came down to a winner-take-all game in Greeley on Saturday, as No. 3 seed Weber State topped No. 1 seed Idaho State to secure the program’s first tournament crown since 2022.

The Wildcats downed the Bengals 10-4 in the final game of the tournament, after Idaho State forced the winner-take-all game with its win earlier in the day. 

Weber State, the tournament’s No. 3 seed, defeated No. 6 seed Montana, No. 2 seed Sacramento State, and No. 1 seed Idaho State twice on their march to the title.

Weber State has now won the Big Sky tournament title five times since It began for softball in 2013.

Weber State Picks Up Win in NCAAs

Weber State recorded a win in an elimination game against Binghamton in the Eugene regional.

The win marks the school’s and conference’s second win the NCAA softball tournament. The lone other win came in 2019 when Weber State defeated Cal State Fullerton.

The Wildcats went on to face host and #16-seed Oregon twice, dropping both contests and putting an end to their season. 

Weber State closed out the season with a 29-32 overall record.
