2025 #BigSkySB Weekly Notebook: Postseason

FARMINGTON, Utah (May 14, 2025) – After a week of weather delays and upsets, the third-seeded Weber State Wildcats came out of the Big Sky Softball tournament as champions and turn their attention towards the NCAA tournament.

‘Cats Crowned Champions  

The 2025 Big Sky Softball Championship came down to a winner-take-all game in Greeley on Saturday, as No. 3 seed Weber State topped No. 1 seed Idaho State to secure the program’s first tournament crown since 2022.

The Wildcats downed the Bengals 10-4 in the final game of the tournament, after Idaho State forced the winner-take-all game with its win earlier in the day. 

Weber State, the tournament’s No. 3 seed, defeated No. 6 seed Montana, No. 2 seed Sacramento State, and No. 1 seed Idaho State twice on their march to the title.

Weber State has now won the Big Sky tournament title five times since It began for softball in 2013.

Weber State Draws Oregon in NCAAs

Big Sky Softball tournament champions Weber State will square off against the 16th-seeded Oregon in the Eugene Regional of the NCAA Tournament on Friday. It will be the Wildcat’s first NCAA tournament appearance since 2022.

First pitch is set for Friday, May 16th at 5:30 pm MT on ESPN+. Stanford and Binghamton complete the Eugene regional field. The regional will follow a double-elimination format. 

Weber State earned the Big Sky’s automatic bid after defeating top-seed Idaho State twice in the Big Sky tournament last week.
