Hornets Lead Women’s Golf Championship After Two Rounds; Maurice Currently Tops Individual Leaderboard

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. (April 15, 2025) – One round remains in the 2025 Big Sky Conference Women’s Golf Championship at The Wigwam Golf Resort, with Sacramento State in possession of first place for the second-consecutive day.
 
 The Hornets currently sit at 1-under as a team after shooting 285 on Tuesday. Their two-day total of 567 puts them 10 strokes ahead of the second place team, Montana State.
 
Sacramento State and Montana State will be paired with Northern Arizona on Wednesday for the third and final round, after the Lumberjacks matched SAC with today’s low round of 1-over as a unit. The Bobcats (+9) and Lumberjacks (+14) will be looking to prevent a threepeat for the Hornets, after Sac State claimed the last two available Big Sky titles.
 
On the individual leaderboard, 2023 Tournament Champion Caitlin Maruice surged into the lead today, shooting 3-under in the second round. After shooting even par in the first round, she sits a 139 for the event.
 
Montana State’s Maddie Montana holds down second place, after shooting back-to-back 70’s to sit at 2-under through 36 holes of action.
 
Big Sky Freshman of the Year Darla May Dela Torre (Sacramento State) and First Team All-Big Sky member Lauren Greeny (Montana State) are tied for third on the leaderboard, as they’re both 1-under for the event.
 
The Hornets have separated themselves by taking advantage of the par 5’s, as they’re 13-under on them as a unit. Northern Arizona is second in that category, shooting 11-under.
 
The third and final round is set to begin at 6:30 a.m. PT tomorrow morning.
