Weekly Honors Announced for Feb. 17-19

FARMINGTON, Utah (Feb. 17, 2025) – The Big Sky Conference will announce weekly honors for softball, indoor track and field, women’s basketball, men’s basketball, tennis and women’s golf through the course of the week.

Big Sky Softball Player of the Week (February 17, 2025)

Player of the Week: Alyssa Yee, Idaho State (Jr., Torrance, Calif.)
Alyssa Yee Led the Bengals to a trio of victories this weekend at the UNLV Rebel Classic in Las Vegas Nevada. 
Over the course of the weekend, Yee hit an absolutely dominant .563 going 9-of-16  with six runs scored, three doubles, two homeruns, and 11 RBIS. Yee finished the weekend with 11 total bases and a 1.125 SLG percentage. 
She also had two stolen bases and went a perfect 5-5 for putouts.

Co-Pitcher of the Week: Riley Wickum, Idaho State (Jr., Sutter, Calif.)
Riley Wickum pitched her way to two wins this weekend at the UNLV Rebel Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada. 
The Bengal pitcher was dominant in the circle. In 8.2 Innings pitched, Wickum pitched a .085 ERA, holding opponents to .080 batting average, only giving up two total hits and 0 extra base knocks. Wickum fanned 8 batters over the three appearances and only allowed four walks on the weekend.

Co-Pitcher of the Week: Grace Kimball, Portland State (R-Sr., Portland, Ore.)
Grace Kimball had an outstanding weekend in the circle for Portland State, pitching two complete games, including a nine inning contest, and finishing the weekend with a 0.93 ERA across 15 innings, holding her opponents to a .207 average. She allowed only two earned runs across 15 innings, striking out a total of eight batters while giving up just three walks. On Sunday, she pitched eight shutout innings against UC Riverside, allowing only five hits in the contest and giving up zero earned runs.

Big Sky Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week (February 17, 2025)

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week: Colin Sahlman, Northern Arizona (Jr., Camarillo, Calif.)
After breaking the Big Sky Conference record in the men’s 800-meter at the Husky Classic, Northern Arizona’s Colin Sahlman has been named Men’s Track Athlete of the Week. Sahlman ran a time of 1:46.40 to set the new standard for both NAU and the Big Sky. The day prior, he placed fifth in the 3,000-meters with a new personal best of 7:41.21 that ranks fifth all-time in NAU history. Has now set two school and conference records this season, after doing so in the mile earlier this season. This is his second weekly award this season.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week: Colby Wilson, Montana State (Gr., Olympia, Wash.)
Colby Wilson had a meet for the ages at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational, twice breaking his own school and Big Sky record in the pole vault. With the effort, the Montana State Bobcat is the Big Sky’s Men’s Field Athlete of the Week. Wilson finished the day with a clearance of 5.60 meters (18-04.50), breaking his previous record from 2023 by more than three inches. Wilson first cleared 5.55 meters to break his conference record, then followed it up with an even higher bar that now places him in a tie for eighth in NCAA Division I this year.

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week: Northern Arizona Distance Medley Relay
Agnes McTigheKyairra ReighAlexandra Carlson and Maggi Congdon clocked the third-fastest time in collegiate history in the DMR at the Husky Classic, running 10:39.44 to place third in the field for a new NAU and Big Sky Conference record. As a collective, NAU’s Distance Medley Relay team is the league’s Women’s Track Athlete(s) of the Week. NAU, BYU (1st, 10:37.58) and Stanford (2nd, 10:38.93) all broke the previous collegiate record, with Northern Arizona's time beating the record by four seconds. The quartet crushed the previous Northern Arizona and Big Sky Conference record of 11:13.18 that was set by Katja Rosenplaenter, Monique Young, Elin Wiik and Johanna Nilsson in 2006.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week: Shealyne McGee, Montana (Sr., Camas, Wash.)
Setting the new season standard for the Big Sky in women’s pole vault, Montana’s Shealyne McGee is the league’s Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. MGee won the Whitworth Invite and broke the Montana school record twice with a clearance of 4.13m (13’ 6.5”) to take over the top spot in the Big Sky for the event.

Women's Basketball Player of the Week (February 18, 2025)

Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Sophie Glancey, Northern Arizona (F, Jr., Boise, Idaho)  
Sophie Glancey helped the Lumberjacks eclipse the 20-win mark for the third-straight season with victories over Portland State and Sacramento State at home. Against PSU, she scored 21 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, shot 56.3 percent (9-16) from the field, 1-1 from three-point range and added two steals. Against the Hornets, she scored 21 points with 11 rebounds, giving her 14 double-doubles in 27 games this season. The junior made 7-of-16 (43.8%) from the field and 2-of-5 from three-point range. She also led the team with three steals and had a block. On the week Glancey averaged 21.0 points and 11.5 rebounds, she shot 50 percent (16-32) from the field and 50 percent (3-6) from three-point range, averaging 2.5 steals per game in addition to averaging a double-double.

Men's Basketball Player of the Week (February 18, 2025)

Player of the Week: Jaylin Henderson, Portland State (G, Sr., Wichita, Kan.)
Following an impressive homestand where they took down one of the top teams in the Big Sky, Portland State’s Jaylin Henderson has been named Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Henderson was critical in PSU’s victory over Northern Colorado, scoring 21 points, dishing out seven assists and pulling down even rebounds. Both his assists and rebounding numbers were career-highs. In his team’s victory over Northern Arizona, he held the league’s leading scorer to just 11 points and 3-of-14 shooting. For the entire week he averaged 14.0 points per game, 6.0 rebounds per game, 4.5 assists per game, 2.0 steals per game and 1.0 blocks per game. With the title, Henderson becomes the 13th different player this season to be named Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. He’s also the first winner from Portland State during the 2024-25 campaign.

Big Sky Women's Tennis Player of the Week (February 19, 2025)

Co-Player of the Week: Meg McCarty, Montana State (So., Bozeman, Mont.)
Meg McCarty went a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles play for Montana State this past week, helping the Bobcats improve to 5-3 on the year. McCarty competed at the No. 2 spot in sinlges and at the No. 1 in doubles play, downing foes from North Dakota and Northern Iowa. 

Co-Player of the Week: Lou Baudouin, Sacramento State (R-So., Strasbourg, France)
Lou Baudouin went a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles play for Sacramento State this past week, as she helped extend the program's best start in its D-1 history. Baudouin, who played at the No. 2 spot in singles and doubles action, led Sacramento State to victories over Loyola Marymount and Cal State Fullerton.

Big Sky Men's Tennis Player of the Week (February 19, 2025)

Player of the Week: Victor Sklenka, Idaho State (Sr.,  Prague, Czech Republic)
Victor Sklenka went undefeated for the Bengals this past week, going 2-0 at the No. 2 spot in singles play. Sklenka downed his foes from Utah State and BYU, while leading 5-4 against the ranked Cougar pair before the match was suspended. 

On the year, Sklenka has now won his last five singles matches in a row and moves to 7-1 in singles play on the season.

Big Sky Women’s Golfer of the Week (February 19, 2025)

Golfer of the Week: Avery Kageyama, Portland State (Gr., Honolulu, Hawaii)
Portland State’s Avery Kageyama has been named Big Sky Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week. Kageyama posted her best single-round score of the season with a final-round 74 at the Long Beach State Tournament. She led the Vikings overall with 233 (81-78-74) to tie for 83rd.
