FARMINGTON, Utah (Sept. 5, 2023) – The first weekend of men’s and women’s cross country saw multiple impressive performances across the Big Sky Conference, highlighted by a pair of Lumberjacks helping their teams dominate Northern Arizona’s home meet and becoming the league’s Athletes of the Week.
Men’s Athlete of the Week – Drew Bosley, Northern Arizona
Pacing the Lumberjacks to a 15-point performance at the George Kyte Classic, NAU’s Drew Bosley has been named Men’s XC Athlete of the Week.
Bosley ran the 4.5 mile course in 21:32.7 to win the meet by 15 seconds. He was the first of five-consecutive Lumberjacks to cross the line and result in a dominating victory over Pac-12 foes Arizona and Arizona State.

Women’s Athlete of the Week – Ruby Smee, Northern Arizona
In her first race with Northern Arizona, San Francisco transfer Ruby Smee put the conference on notice by winning the George Kyle Classic and being named Women’s XC Athlete of the Week.
Smee ran the 2.5 mile course in 14:34.6 to outpace teammates Elsie Stearns and Aliandrea Upshaw, who both finished at 14:34.7.
NAU topped Arizona State, Arizona and Grand Canyon along with many non-Division I foes in the meet by also scoring just 15 points.
