FARMINGTON, Utah (June 2, 2022) –
The Big Sky Conference office has released the league’s 2021-22 Winter All-Academic Team, celebrating the accomplishments of 516 total student-athletes from all 11 full-time member institutions.

The team features participants in men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s indoor track and field and women’s indoor track and field.

“Congratulations to all of those who qualified for our Winter All-Academic Team,” Commissioner Tom Wistrcill said. “Having more than 500 student-athletes make this list is a credit not only to their hard work and dedication, but also shows that our member institutions emphasize academic success across the board. Succeeding in both competition and the classroom is something we know our student-athletes strive for, and it’s fulfilling to see so many of them honored with this designation.”

In total, 69 Big Sky student-athletes from these four sports are currently carrying a 4.0 GPA, while 393 are over the 3.5 mark.

Women’s indoor track and field student-athletes had the most individuals represented of any sport with 226.

The Fall All-Academic Team was released earlier this year, and the Summer All-Academic Team will be released in the coming months following the end of the NCAA competition calendar.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) Participated in at least half of the team's competitions; 2) Achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at the conclusion of the most recently completed term; 3) Completed at least one academic term at his/her current Big Sky institution. For indoor track and field, the student-athlete is also eligible competition-wise by participating at the conference championship meet.
