FARMINGTON, Utah (May 25, 2022) – After a monumental campaign across the board, the Bobcats of Montana State have been named the recipients of the 2021-22 Big Sky Conference Men’s All-Sports Trophy.
Paced by their success on the basketball court, the Bobcats did not finish outside of the top three in any men’s sport for the whole athletic calendar.
Montana State’s hoops squad claimed the Big Sky regular season and tournament crowns, led by Big Sky Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year Jubrile Belo, along with Big Sky Tournament MVP Xavier Bishop.
Montana State’s other Big Sky title came from men’s tennis, where the Bobcats claimed a share of the regular-season title.
The Bobcat football team, who wrapped up their campaign as the national runner-ups, finished the race for the Big Sky title in second place before making a massive run through the FCS Playoff. The year for Montana State on the gridiron was capped off by two players being drafted into the NFL, with Troy Andersen being selected in the second round and Daniel Hardy going in the seventh round.
Montana State’s men’s cross country/track and field programs also found a lot of success this past season. The Bobcats finished second in outdoor, and third overall in both indoors and on the cross country circuit.
The Men’s All-Sports Trophy win for Montana State marks the sixth all-time for the Bobcats and breaks an eight-year winning streak by Northern Arizona. The win also marks the first for the Bobcats since 2012-13 and their fourth overall since the turn of the century.
Claiming a trio of Big Sky titles in cross country, indoor and outdoor, the Lumberjacks of NAU finished as the runner-up for the award.
