Northern Arizona Predicted to Sweep 2022 Outdoor Titles

NAU’s men won the 2021 title, claiming their seventh trophy in their last nine attempts. The Lumberjack women also won in 2021, marking their fifth trophy in their last seven tries

FARMINGTON, Utah (March 23, 2022) – The results of the 2022 Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Coaches’ Polls are in, and the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona have been selected unanimously to repeat as Big Sky Champions on both the men’s and women’s side.
 
NAU’s men won the 2021 title, claiming their seventh trophy in their last nine attempts. The Lumberjack women also won in 2021, marking their fifth trophy in their last seven tries.  
 
Additionally, both programs earned the 2022 Big Sky Indoor Track & Field titles last month, following up on their cross country sweep from the fall.
 
Northern Arizona’s men are also coming off a fourth-place finish at the 2022 Indoor Track & Field Championships, where Abdihamid Nur claimed two individual National Championships en route to being named USTFCCCA National Track Athlete of the Year.
 
Montana State was selected as the runner up on both the men’s and women’s sides, followed by Idaho on the men’s side and Weber State on the women’s side.
 
The full results of the polls can be found below. Coaches were permitted to vote for their own teams.
 
The 2022 Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held in Pocatello, Idaho from May 11-14, where the Big Sky Conference champions will be crowned.
