FARMINGTON, Utah (Nov. 28, 2022) - Portland State and Weber State will look to continue their postseason success, as both teams earned spots in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship earlier this week.
NIVC Tournament Bracket
After Portland State's impressive run in the Big Sky Volleyball Tournament, the Vikings earned an automatic berth to the NIVC for the second season in a row as they will take on Santa Clara. In the tournament, the Vikings defeated both Eastern Washington and Montana State, advancing them to the championship against No. 1 seed Northern Colorado. Despite their loss in the five-set match against the Bears, their postseason is not over yet.
Along with the berth, Portland State was also selected as hosts for first- and second-round matches on Friday, Dec. 2, and Saturday, Dec. 3. Pacific (Calif.) and Omaha will play a neutral-site match to kick off the first round on Friday at 5 p.m. MT, while the Vikings host Santa Clara at 8 p.m. MT. Both matches will be held at Viking Pavilion.
For the fourth season in a row, Weber State has also earned its slot in the NIVC as the Wildcats take on Drake in the first round on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 12:00 p.m. MT. The match will be hosted at Wichita State for the first two rounds. The Wildcats will look to continue their postseason despite being knocked out of the Big Sky Volleyball Tournament by Montana State last week.
UNC, the NCAA automatic qualifier for the Big Sky after its championship run in Ogden over the weekend, will open its
postseason run on Thursday, Dec. 1 against No. 2 seeded San Diego. First serve for the match is slated for 8:30 p.m. MT.
