FARMINGTON, Utah (Nov. 27, 2022) - Northern Colorado will face No. 2 seed San Diego in the opening round of the NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament on Thursday, Dec. 1, as the Bears will once again be dancing in December.

Thursday's match will be played at Jenny Craig Pavilion in San Diego, California, with the winner moving on to face the winner of Washington State-UNLV in the second round.
UNC is fresh off winning its seventh Big Sky tourney title, after the Bears won three matches in Ogden over the weekend including a thrilling five-set victory over Portland State on Saturday night. UNC is on a 14-match winning streak and swept both the regular-season and tournament titles in 2022 for the second time since 2019.
San Diego finished 27-1 overall and a perfect 18-0 in West Coast Conference play. The Toreros swept 19 of their 28 matches in 2022 and finished the year on a 24-match win streak. USD captured its 12th WCC title this year and earned its 25th overall NCAA Tournament berth, with 24 of those coming in the last 26 years.
Portland State, who finished runner-up in Ogden over the weekend, earned a berth to the NIVC for the second-straight season as the Vikings will keep their postseason dreams alive.
Alongside Portland State, Weber State also earned an at-large bid for the NIVC for the fourth-straight season as the Wildcats will also look to continue their postseason.
