FARMINGTON, Utah (Oct. 27, 2026) – The Big Sky Conference announced its 2027 football schedule on Tuesday, featuring 58 league games highlighted by marquee matchups, longstanding rivalries, and several clashes between programs currently ranked in the Top 25.
The Big Sky will continue its nine-game league schedule in 2027, with Southern Utah playing eight conference games due to the odd number of teams. Schools playing nine conference games will alternate between four and five home conference games throughout the scheduling cycle (2026-31), while the format also provides flexibility for schools to fulfill previously scheduled non-conference commitments.
The 2027 conference slate will kick off on Saturday, Aug. 28, with five league matchups before conference play resumes on Saturday, Sept. 25. The opening weekend features Eastern Washington at Cal Poly, Northern Colorado at Idaho, Idaho State at Montana State, Northern Arizona at Portland State, and Montana at Weber State. The regular season will conclude on Saturday, Nov. 20, with six conference games, highlighted by a pair of rivalry games featuring Idaho State at Idaho and Montana State at Montana.
Of the six Big Sky teams currently ranked in the Top 25 as of Oct. 27, 2026, the 2027 schedule would potentially feature 11 ranked matchups between those programs. Two of those contests would come in the opening week, as Idaho State travels to Montana State and Montana visits Weber State, while another pair would take place on Saturday, Oct. 2, with Montana State at UC Davis and Northern Arizona at Weber State.
The Big Sky has earned 22 FCS Playoff selections from eight different schools since 2021, while sending a team to the national championship game in four of the past five seasons. The league's recent postseason success was highlighted by Montana State capturing the FCS National Championship this past January, the conference's first since 2010.
Kickoff times and broadcast information for the 2027 Big Sky football season will be announced at a later date. The full week-by-week and team-by-team conference schedules for the 2027 football season can be found below.
