GREELEY, Colorado (May 10, 2025) – The 2025 Big Sky Softball Championship came down to a winner-take-all game in Greeley on Saturday, as No. 3 seed Weber State topped No. 1 seed Idaho State to secure the program's first tournament crown since 2022.
The Wildcats downed the Bengals 10-4 in the final game of the tournament, after Idaho State forced the winner-take-all game with its win earlier in the day. Weber State, the tournament's No. 3 seed, defeated No. 6 seed Montana, No. 2 seed Sacramento State, and No. 1 seed Idaho State twice on their march to the title.
Weber State was led by Big Sky Tournament MVP Olivia Birkinshaw, who put the nail in the coffin with her three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to put the Wildcats up 9-4. Birkinshaw finished the week with a team-best nine RBIs for the tournament, hitting three home runs total and was a double short of hitting for the cycle in Saturday's final game.
Weber State has now won the Big Sky tournament title five times since It began for softball in 2013.
Weber State will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Softball Tournament, with the field officially being announced on Sunday, May 11 at 5:00 p.m. MT on ESPN2.
