FARMINGTON, Utah (Feb. 3, 2025) – The Big Sky Conference will announce weekly honors for indoor track and field, women’s basketball, men’s basketball, tennis and women’s golf through the course of the week.

Big Sky Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week (February 3, 2025)

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week: Colin Sahlman, Northern Arizona (Jr., Camarillo, Calif.)
Breaking his own Big Sky Conference and Northern Arizona University records, Colin Sahlman is our Men’s Track Athlete of the Week. Sahlman ran the men’s mile in 3:52.82, which ranks him sixth nationally along with being the Big Sky leader in the event. He was participating in the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic, where he finished sixth overall.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week: Garret Bernt, Northern Arizona (Sr., North Bonneville, Wash.)
With another strong performance in the men’s weigh throw, Northern Arizona’s Garret Bernt has been named Men’s Field Athlete of the Week. He won the men's weight throw for the third-straight meet with a mark of 22.61-meters (74-2 ¼), which came up just short of his current season best of 74-2 ½ which is the 10th farthest mark in the nation and leads the Big Sky.

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week: Elise Stearns, Northern Arizona (RJr., Missoula, Mont.)
Breaking the Big Sky Conference women’s 5K record for the second time in her career, Northern Arizona’s Elise Stearns has been named Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. Stearns ran a 15:21.43 at the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic, which is the eighth-fastest time in the country currently. This mark outpaced her personal best by 12 seconds.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week: Shelby Schweyen, Montana State (Gr., Missoula, Mont.)
Montana State’s Shelby Schweyen had personal-bests in all five events to set the Big Sky record in the women's pentathlon on Friday at the Bobcat Performance, earning Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors. Her grand total of 4,183 points outpaced former MSU record-holder Carley McCutchen's total of 4,056 (2015) and Montana's Erika McLeod's total of 4,149 for the conference mark. Schweyen started off her meet with a time of 8.59 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles, the third-fastest time in school history, then cleared 5-08.50 in the high jump, the fifth-fest mark in school history. The Missoula native rode the momentum to personal-bests in the shot put, long jump, and 800 to finish with the ninth-best pentathlon in NCAA Division I this season.

Big Sky Women's Basketball Player of the Week (February 4, 2025)

Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Sophie Glancey, Northern Arizona (F, Jr., Boise, Idaho)  
A pair of 20-plus point performances  from Sophie Glancey helped Northern Arizona tie its best start to Big Sky Conference play at 9-1 following two victories over Northern Colorado and Weber State. Against UNC, she scored 22 points on 9-of-14 from the field (64.3%), 4-for-5 from the free throw line and added five rebounds, an assist and a block. Against Weber State, she earned her 12th double-double of the season with 23 points and 10 rebounds. The junior made 10-of-14 from the field (71.4%) and 3-of-5 at the free throw line; she also added an assist, a block, and a steal. Over the weekend, she scored 45 points, averaging 22.5 per game, grabbed 15 boards to average 7.5, shot 67.9 percent (19-28) from the field, added two blocks and two assists.

Big Sky Men's Basketball Player of the Week (February 4, 2025)

Player of the Week: Dylan Darling, Idaho State (PG, RSo., Spokane, Wash.)
Idaho State’s Dylan Darling stuffed the stat sheet for three-consecutive games, leading to him being named Big Sky Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. The Spokane native averaged 25.67 points per game, totaling 77 against Eastern Washington, Idaho and Northern Colorado. Additionally, he dished out 19 assists, for an average of 6.3 per game. He also was effective rebounding the basketball, pulling down 5.0 per contest. Darling dropped 29 points on Eastern Washington, in a game where he also had nine rebounds and six assists in a Bengal victory. In a rivalry matchup with Idaho on Saturday, he dropped in 28 and dished out nine assists. Despite losing to Northern Colorado, Darling kept up his efficiency last night with 20 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals against the current Big Sky favorites. With the title, he becomes the 12th different player this season to earn Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Big Sky Women's Tennis Player of the Week (February 5, 2025)

Player of the Week: Nia Gelashvili, Montana State (Fr., Tbilisi, Georgia)
Nia Gelashvili clinched back-to-back matches at the No. 3 spot for Montana State over the weekend, in victories over Utah State and South Dakota. In her first match at MSU, the freshman from Tbilisi, Georgia posted a 6-4, 0-6, 6-2 win over USU's Maria Ramos Garcia. She followed that win on Sunday downing USD's Sorcha Caves, 6-2, 6-4. In doubles play, Gelashvili won a pair of contests at the No. 3 spot, winning 6-2 with Kavya Khirwar and 6-3 with Angel Bean.

Big Sky Men's Tennis Player of the Week (February 5, 2025)

Player of the Week: Piotr Galus, Northern Arizona (Sr., Szczecin, Poland)
Piotr Galus went undefeated in singles play on the weekend as the Jacks defeated Cal Poly and dropped to Denver. Following an unfinished doubles matchup, Galus earned the first singles victory of the day for Northern Arizona, picking up a 6-4, 6-3 win over Sean Kamyshev at the No. 3 court. Against the Pioneers, Galus moved back to No. 2 to earn a 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5) win over No. 43 ITA ranked singles player Raffaello Papajcik.

Big Sky Women’s Golfer of the Week (February 5, 2025)

Golfer of the Week: Sneha Sharan, Sacramento State (Sr., Bengaluru, India)
Sneha Sharan helped Sacramento State to its best three-round score of the season as the Hornets tied for eighth place in the highly competitive PDI Intercollegiate in Orlando, Fla. Sacramento State's was 7-under par as a team and ranked second among schools not in the top-36 in the nation at the event. Sharan posted three rounds of 71 to finish at 3-under par. She ranked second in the tournament with a scoring average of 4.42 on the par-5 holes and completed the event with nine birdies, 39 pars and just six bogeys.
