FARMINGTON, Utah (Dec. 23, 2024) – The Big Sky Conference announced weekly honors for women’s and men’s basketball as the countdown to league play continues.
Big Sky Women's Player of the Week (Dec. 23, 2024)
Player of the Week: Kourtney Grossman, Eastern Washington (SF, Fr., Billings, Mont.)
Eastern Washington’s
Kourtney Grossman had a monster game against UC Santa Barbara to close out the non-conference schedule to earn Big Sky Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors. Grossman notched her second career double-double with 15 points and 17 rebounds. Both totals were career-bests for the young Eagle. Eastern defeated the Gauchos 54-46 to in its final game before Big Sky play begins. As a true freshman, Grossman leads EWU with 7.2 rebounds per game, also tying for seventh in the conference. She fourth on the team with 7.6 points per game, while shooting 47.6 percent from three-point range and 38.7 overall.

Big Sky Men's Player of the Week (Dec. 23, 2024)
Co-Player of the Week: Kolton Mitchell, Idaho (G, RFr., Coeur d'Alene, Idaho)
Averaging 29 points per game in a pair of road contests has earned Idaho’s
Kolton Mitchell Co-Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors. Mitchell scored 32 points in a victory over Pacific on Saturday, which was a follow up to a 26-point effort against UC Davis. Mitchell was 20-29 from the field and 10-17 from the three point line. He also added six assists and nine steals for the week. He has scored in double-digits in seven games, including the last three. This is Mitchell’s first weekly Big Sky award.
Co-Player of the Week: Carson Towt, Northern Arizona (F, RJr., Gilbert, Ariz.)
Leading his Lumberjacks to a road victory against Southern Utah in impressive fashion, Northern Arizona’s
Carson Towt has earned Co-Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors. This is Towt’s second weekly award this season so far. Towt became the leading rebounder (12.2 per game) in DI Men's Basketball, following his eighth double-double performance of the season after lifting the Lumberjacks to a comeback victory over the Thunderbirds. Towt's 21 points against SUU was accompanied by 17 rebounds, five assists, and two steals while playing 38 minutes on the floor. Improving Northern Arizona to the best start since 2010 with an 8-4 record, Towt shot 47.3 percent from the field on nine made-field goals.
