Four #BigSkyVB Teams Earn Postseason Bids

Sac State gets NCAA bid, while Northern Colorado, Idaho State and Weber State get NIVC nods

FARMINGTON, Utah (Dec. 2, 2024) - After winning the Big Sky Volleyball tournament crown, Sacramento State earned a bid to the NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament as the Hornets will face No. 2 seeded Stanford in the opening round.

NCAA Volleyball Bracket 

The Hornets will face the Cardinal on Friday, Dec. 6 at 8:00 p.m. MT at Maples Pavilion in Stanford, California. The winner will advance to play either Washington or LMU in the second round. 

Sacramento State will be making its first NCAA tournament appearance since 2007, after claiming the Big Sky tournament title in Sacramento over the weekend following a thrilling five-set victory over Northern Colorado on Friday night. 

Stanford finished 25-4 overall and 17-3 in its first season as a member of the ACC. The Cardinal closed out the regular season winning nine straight, tying for second in the league. The 2024 season marks Stanford's 43rd NCAA tournament appearance as the Cardinal begin its quest for its first national title since 2019. 

Northern Colorado, Idaho State and Weber State are postseason bound as well, after earning bids to the NIVC tournament. All three teams will be on the road to begin their postseason journey. The full bracket can be found below.

The tournament is a single-elimination event with all games played at sites of host schools.
