FARMINGTON, Utah (Sept. 5, 2023) – Following another exciting weekend of Big Sky Conference soccer action, the league office has announced its Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards.
Offensive Player of the Week: Maddie Morgan, Eastern Washington
Breaking the Big Sky Conference record for single-match goals with five in one contest, Eastern Washington’s Maddie Morgan has been named Offensive Player of the Week.
Morgan scored her first goal in the 10th minute to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead over the Argos. Morgan opened the second half with four goals in the first seven minutes of the half. The senior scored two of her goals on penalty kicks.
In the game, Morgan had eight total shots, with seven on goal. Eastern set a program record with 16 goals in the game, also setting program marks in assists (12), shots (42) and shots on goal (29). Morgan recorded two shots on goal against San Diego State in the team's second game of the weekend.

Defensive Player of the Week: Ashlyn Dvorak, Montana
Helping her Griz stay undefeated with a. pair of clean sheets, Montana goalkeeper Ashlyn Dvorak has been named Defensive Player of the Week.
Dvorak shutout both Utah Tech and Oklahoma to help UM improve to 5-0-1.
She faced 25 shots, made one save against Utah Tech and five against Oklahoma giving her four shutouts on the season and dropping her goals-against average to 0.50.
This also marks the third-consecutive week the Griz have been recognized with a Player of the Week title.

2023 Championship Information
The 2023 Big Sky Soccer Championships will be hosted on Nov. 1, 3, and 5 on the campus of the Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz. The top six teams in the conference regular season standings advance to the championship.
The winner of the championship receives the Big Sky’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
Flagstaff will serve as the host city for the first time since 2010 when the Lumberjacks won the regular season championship. The host institution hasn’t won the postseason tournament since 2019 when Northern Colorado won on their home grass.
