FARMINGTON, Utah (July 28, 2023) - The Big Sky Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) announced its 2023-24 executive team on Friday, following its summer meetings at the league office this past week.
Northern Colorado's
Alyssa Wenzel (softball) was named the Vice President of Competition & Events, Idaho's
T.J. Patterson (men's golf) was named Vice President of Communications and Sacramento State's
Maddy Ferreros (women's tennis) was named to the position of SAAC Manager. The elected trio joins Portland State's
Jamie Zamrin (women's T&F/XC), who serves as the Big Sky SAAC President and DI SAAC representative, after being announced to that position this past spring.
The 17 student-athletes attended meetings, enjoyed a volunteer activity with the
Boys & Girls Club of Weber-Davis, and amended the roles and responsibilities of Big Sky SAAC, as well as created an updated SAAC Governance Structure and voted to reinstated the Big Sky SAAC Cup, which includes a conference-wide competition that will be announced at a later date.
"It was great to have our student-athlete leaders here," Jaynee Nadolski, Sr. Associate Commissioner and SAAC Advisor said. "One of the goals of our strategic plan was to strengthen the role of SAAC at the Conference level with the expectation that it will enhance the campus SAAC. The role of the Conference SAAC is to provide a forum for student-athletes to use their voice and positively impact their communities through leadership, voluntarism, and collaboration with peers, and the student-athletes in attendance this week exemplified the types of leadership it will take to make SAAC more visible and ultimately more impactful to the student-athlete experience.”
