FARMINGTON, Utah (January 20, 2022) – The Big Sky Conference announced a four-year softball schedule that runs from 2023 to 2026 and will feature six softball-playing institutions.
The future schedules, starting in 2023 consist of five conference weekend dates with teams playing a three-game series over two days. Most teams will alternate between home and away every other week, with some teams playing home or away on consecutive weekends.
In 2023 the conference schedule will begin on the first weekend in April while the 2024, 2025, and 2026 schedules will begin on the final weekend in March.
The Big Sky Softball Championship will continue to be held at an on-campus location. The previous season’s regular-season champion will earn the right to serve as the championship host. Weber State has hosted four of the last five Big Sky tournaments, with the Wildcats slated to host the 2022 championship in Ogden on May 11-14.
The 2022 season gets underway next month as Portland State defends its Big Sky tournament title from 2021. The Vikings peaked at the perfect time as they made an impressive run into the postseason last year.
