Big Sky Announces 2021-22 Men’s Basketball Slate

FARMINGTON, Utah (July 20, 2021) – Following a 2020-21 calendar that was adjusted due to issues faced by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Big Sky Conference office has announced the league’s 11-team composite men’s basketball schedule that will return to its standard scheduling pattern for the 2021-22 campaign, featuring a 20-game, double round robin slate where each team plays every opponent both home and away.
 
Due to the league featuring an odd number of teams, Southern Utah will serve as the lone wolf for the season making Northern Arizona and Portland State travel partners. The remainder of the travel partners include Eastern Washington-Idaho, Montana-Montana State, Idaho State-Weber State and Northern Colorado-Sacramento State.
 
The Big Sky Conference season will officially begin on December 2, with five games scheduled to tip off the season.
 
The final day of the regular season is scheduled for Saturday,  March 5, 2022, leading into the conference tournament.  
 
After conference competition spanning four different months, all 11 Big Sky members will head to Boise, Idaho, to participate in the 2022 Big Sky Men’s Basketball Championship tournament, played inside Idaho Central Arena from March 9-12.
 
Eastern Washington will be defending their 2021 tournament championship in Boise, while Southern Utah will enter the league as the defending regular season champions.
 
As announced earlier this Summer, each 2021-22 Big Sky Men’s Basketball will be streamed live on ESPN+, with at least one game scheduled to air on ESPNU. The 2022 Big Sky Men’s Basketball Championship Game will also be airing on the ESPN family of networks.
