#BigSkyMBB Recap: Week Two

The Wildcats moved to 5-0 this week after claiming the team title at the Jersey Mike's Classic. This marks the first time Weber State has started 5-0 since the 1985-86 season

FARMINGTON, Utah (November 22, 2021) -- Two full weeks of Big Sky Conference men's basketball are officially in the books as teams across the league have started to pick up momentum through 14 days of solid competition. 

Eastern Washington

Competing at the Good Sam Empire Classic, the Eagles of Eastern Washington split their contests 1-1. Their victory came over CSUN in a game that went to overtime. That marked EWU head coach David Riley's first road victory against a Division I opponent.

Idaho

After a home contest against Pac-12 foe Washington State, the Vandals of Idaho opened up competition at the SoCal Challenge with a loss to Utah Valley. UI is 1-4 to this point of the season.

Idaho State

Idaho State suffered a pair of losses this week, first on the road at Nebraska and then at home to Kansas City,

Montana

The Griz played just one contest this past week, knocking off Omaha 69-47. Josh Bannan led the scoring effort for Montana by racking up 24 points.

Montana State

Facing two tough opponents on the road, the Bobcats of Montana State fell to 1-3 on the year with losses to both South Dakota State and New Mexico. Jubrile Belo combined for 28 points across the two contests.

Northern Arizona

Picking up two victories over Division I foes, the Lumberjacks of NAU went 2-1 on the week. Northern Arizona knocked off CSU Bakersfield at home and UTRGV on the road before falling to UTRGV at home on Monday evening.

Northern Colorado

After a 3-1 start the Bears of Northern Colorado moved to .500 this past week, falling to both No. 8 Texas and Cal Baptist on the road. Reigning Big Sky Player of the Week, Daylen Kountz, combined for 35 points between the two games.

Portland State

The Vikings of PSU secured a victory in the single contest they played in the previous week, as they ran past George Fox at him inside the Viking Pavilion. Paris Dawson led the scoring effort with 19 points.

The Hornets played one game in the past seven days, where they fell to UC San Diego.

Southern Utah

With just one game during the week, the Thunderbirds moved 1-3 with a loss to Cal. They Thunderbirds will now play a pair of games at the Fort Meyers Tipoff.

Weber State

The Wildcats moved to 5-0 this week after claiming the team title at the Jersey Mike's Classic. This marks the first time the Wildcats have started 5-0 since the 1985-86 season. Randy Rahe also collected his 300th career victory against Green Bay when WSU won 68-58. Their record puts them on top of the Big Sky Conference standings through two weeks of competition.
