#BigSkyFB Recap: Week 8

Weber State provides the upset of the week in the FCS

FARMINGTON, Utah (Oct. 24, 2021) - Weber State gave No. 2 Eastern Washington its first loss of the season, while Sacramento State and Montana State stayed unbeaten in Big Sky play to highlight football action in Week 8.

Weber State was also the last team to beat EWU at the Inferno, with the Wildcats winning in 2017 before the Eagles embarked on their now snapped 20-game home winning streak. 

Montana and UC Davis won rivalry games as well on Saturday, as the Griz downed Idaho to keep the "Little Brown Stein" while the Aggies retained the "The Golden Horseshoe" with a victory over Cal Poly.

Montana State 27, Idaho State 9

BOZEMAN, Montana (Oct. 23, 2021) – No. 8 Montana State won its seventh-straight game and stayed undefeated in league play, as the Bobcats defeated Idaho State 27-9. Isaiah Ifanse rushed for 165 yards and a score on the ground, while Matthew McKay finished the game with a pair of touchdown passes. 

Weber State 35, EWU 34

CHENEY, Washington (Oct. 23, 2021) - Weber State forced three turnovers and had three successful fake punts, to go along with four rushing touchdowns as the Wildcats knocked off No. 2 Eastern Washington 35-34 in a wild game Saturday afternoon at "Inferno" of Roos Field. The Wildcats totaled 482 yards of offense and held the top offensive team in the nation to 434 yards.

Montana 34, Idaho 14

MOSCOW, Idaho (Oct. 23, 2021) – No. 11/12 Montana retained the "Little Brown Stein" with a statement win, rebounding with a 34-14 rout of rival Idaho. The Griz won the rivalry for the seventh consecutive time, remaining unbeaten against the Vandals since the turn of the century. Kris Brown stepped up to lead Montana, passing for a career-high 256 yards and a touchdown and adding another score on the ground.

Northern Colorado 17, Southern Utah 9

CEDAR CITY, Utah (Oct. 23, 2021) – Key plays at key times, helped Northern Colorado earn the 17-9 win over Southern Utah on Saturday night to improve to 3-5 on the year and pick up their second Big Sky victory of the season. A 19-play, 90-yard drive in the fourth quarter took 8:15 off the clock and ended in a touchdown that was the difference for the Bears. 

UC Davis 24, Cal Poly 13

San Luis Obispo, California (Oct. 23, 2021) - The Golden Horseshoe is staying in Davis. Ulonzo Gilliam Jr. had his 21st career 100 yard rushing game, Miles Hastings completed 20 of his 21 first passes and Jaylin White added to the Aggies FCS-leading interception total as No. 10 UC Davis pulled away from Cal Poly 24-13.

Sac State 44, NAU 0

SACRAMENTO, California (Oct. 23, 2021) — No. 19 Sacramento State remained unbeaten in the Big Sky Conference with a convincing 44-0 victory over Northern Arizona on Homecoming at Fred Anderson Field at Hornet Stadium. Jake Dunniway recorded his fourth career 300-yard passing game — and third of the season — as he finished with 328 yards and two touchdowns on 21-of-25 with an interception.
