#BigSkyGolf Q&A w/ Portland State's Jasmine Cabajar
Jasmine Cabajar is a junior on the Portland State women's golf team. The Wailuku, Hawaii native is a two-time Big Sky Honorable Mention golfer.
What has been one of your most memorable moments while at Portland State?
I shot my lowest 18-hole round of 4-under and finished the tournament 1-under this past fall at the Las Vegas Showdown. Also, winning the Grand Canyon University tournament two years in a row, my freshman and sophomore seasons.
What’s it like to play collegiate golf? It’s an amazing experience. When I was little I played basketball and didn’t see myself as a golfer. Now to get a golf scholarship and work towards a degree is truly a blessing. Being able to play individually and with a team, gain new friends, travel around the country, and meet new people is great. It’s a part of my life I never got to experience before.
What's the closest you've gotten to getting a hole in 1?
I actually have two hole in ones, but unfortunately I didn’t see them. The first was in match play. I hit the golf ball and looked down and my competitor told me it went in. The second time, the green was a little higher. I walked to the hole and there it was down in the cup. I was close to another one this past fall in San Diego on the 12
th hole in the practice round.
What part of your game are you working on?
My short game. I have worked over the years to perfect it. My mental golf game has also gotten better over the years.
