The Big Sky Conference has named Lauren Mazich the league’s new Assistant Director of Communications, Commissioner Tom Wistrcill announced today.
Mazich will report directly to the Assistant Commissioner for Communications and External Relations at the Big Sky, and will oversee league communications for women’s basketball, volleyball and softball at the conference office, among other assigned duties.
“We’re very excited to add Lauren to our team, and know she’ll do great things here at the Big Sky,” Wistrcill said. “Our communications staff has made large strides over the past couple years, and Lauren will be a big part of continuing to elevate our brand.”
Mazich joins the Big Sky staff from the University of Maryland, where she served as a Strategic Communications Assistant for the past year. She was the primary communications contact for women’s soccer, volleyball and softball while serving as the secondary contact for women’s basketball.
Mazich was also heavily involved with social media, as she managed the team’s social media platforms and grew Maryland’s softball Instagram account by over 1,400 followers.
“I am so excited to be joining the Big Sky Conference,” Mazich said. “I look forward to pursing my passion for college athletics as well as enhancing the student-athlete experience for our Big Sky members. After meeting with the staff, I am confident that the Big Sky has the resources to continue gaining national attention on various platforms and I look forward to getting started.”
Mazich is also a former student-athlete, having played Division I collegiate soccer at High Point University in North Carolina. During her career, she scored seven goals and assisted on four others. She appeared in 63 total contests for the Panthers during her career.
Additionally, she interned for High Point University Athletics during her time as a student-athlete, where a passion for the profession was born.
