FARMINGTON, Utah (December 23, 2022) – The Big Sky Conference has named Alana Baron as the league’s new Director of Compliance, Commissioner Tom Wistrcill announced today.
“Alana will be a terrific fit with our staff and will serve our member institutions selflessly,” Wistrcill said. “She has impressive experience and will bring a valuable perspective to our office as a former student-athlete and recent campus administrator.”
In this role, she will support the conference and its members to promote and enforce all NCAA, conference, and institutional rules, policies, and procedures.
A central New Jersey native, Baron joins the Big Sky staff from Fairleigh Dickinson University, where she has served as a compliance graduate assistant since the fall of 2021.
At FDU, she worked with university admissions to provide coaches and department staff with status updates regarding admission and enrollment, merit awards, and financial aid, streamlining the National Letter of Intent (NLI) process, and adding preferred walk-ons to Knights teams. Assisting Senior Associate Athletic Director Jen Quirk in interpreting NCAA regulations, Baron also tracks initial eligibility and performs transcript evaluations while maintaining compliance databases.
Prior to joining FDU, Baron spent five months interning with the Felician University athletic department (NCAA Division II) serving in a variety of operational roles, assisting with sports information, facilities, and coordinating gameday logistics.
A two-year student-athlete on the Kean women’s soccer team (NCAA Division III), Baron graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Sport Management degree from Rutgers in 2021 and is working towards her Master’s in Business Administration at FDU’s Silberman College of Business.
“I’m thrilled to join the Big Sky Conference and continue to give back to college athletics,” Baron said. “After meeting with the conference staff, I have no doubt the Big Sky is the place for me, and I look forward to working with our member schools to provide further assistance.”
