Eastern Washington Wins First Big Sky Basketball Tournament Title

Jamie Loera Named Tournament MVP

BOISE, Idaho (March 13, 2024) – Eastern Washington claimed their first-ever Big Sky Tournament title on Wednesday with a 73-64 victory over Northern Arizona.

It was all Lumberjacks at the end of the first quarter as the Eagles found themselves down 22-12 after the opening 10 minutes.

An 13-2 second quarter run sparked the Eagles offense as they went on to outscore Northern Arizona 61-42 in the following three quarters.

It was a team effort for the Eagles as four different players scored in double figures, but it was Jacinta Buckley who led the team with 20 points, 11 rebounds and three steals. 

League MVP and All-Tournament MVP Jamie Loera capped off an incredible week with 11 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 4 blocks and a pair of steals in the championship game. 

With the win, Eastern Washington has clinched an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The Eagles will learn their destination and opponent during the selection show on Sunday at 6 pm MT on ESPN.
