#BigSkyFB Earns Five Names on Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List Ahead of 2023 Season

Preseason MVPs Hatten and Reid headline the list

FARMINGTON, Utah (Aug. 23, 2023) - Five players from the Big Sky Conference were featured on the Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List, which was announced on Wednesday in anticipation of the 2023 football season kicking off next week.

Big Sky Preseason MVPs Hayden Hatten of Idaho and Winston Reid of Weber State headlined Wednesday's announcement for the league, with the wide receiver and linebacker listed among the top talent in the nation heading into their senior seasons.

Tight end Marshel Martin of Sacramento State, offensive lineman Chris Walker of Montana and linebacker David Hoage of Northern Colorado were also named to the preseason watchlist for the Big Sky.

The Senior Bowl is the longest continual-running all-star game, with the all-star game taking place in Mobile, Alabama, for the past 74 years. Last year, the game produced 100 total picks for the third straight year, representing 40 percent of the entire NFL draft, including 40 selected on the first two days.

The Big Sky had another stellar season on the gridiron in 2022, as a league-record six football teams finished the year ranked in the Top 25. The conference also matched its previous high for FCS Playoff teams in one season, set in 2021, with another five squads being selected to the 24-team field.

The 2023 Big Sky football season will kick off on Thursday, Aug. 31, with five teams playing that night before concluding the opening week with seven games on Saturday, Sept. 2. Six teams, or exactly half of the league, are ranked in at least one preseason Top 25 poll.
