FARMINGTON, Utah (September 7, 2022) – The Big Sky Conference men’s golf season got underway last week, and with it comes the first Men’s Golfer of the Week award of the new athletic calendar.
For the first week of the season, the title has been given to Isaac Buerger from Weber State, the league office announced today.
Buerger went 2-1 last week, helping lead the Wildcats to an 11.5-4.5 win over Utah State in the Weber State-Utah State Cup, a match play event held at the Ogden Country Club.
He teamed with Brody Childs for a win in Thursday morning's Four-Ball competition, with the pair taking down Utah State's duo of John Cook and Julio Sanchez. Buerger and Childs again teamed in the Foursomes alternate shot format and lost a tight match against Josh Pehrson and Cameron Tucker as the Aggies rallied in the afternoon matches.
On Saturday, Buerger anchored the Wildcat lineup in singles play, leading a dominant Wildcat performance on the day as he defeated USU's Luis Cantu as Weber State went undefeated on the day for a 7-1 points edge in the session.
The Wildcats are the defending Big Sky Conference champions.
