Title IX Spotlight: Adrienne Jordan

Jordan played soccer at Northern Colorado from 2012-15, earning All-Big Sky First Team laurels three times while being named the league's Defensive MVP twice

FARMINGTON, Utah (June 8, 2022) - This June marks the 50th anniversary of the passing of Title IX, the law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in federally-funded education programs or activities and has helped create gender equality in sports. To celebrate this landmark, the Big Sky Conference is highlighting several inspiring female student-athletes from its member institutions, next up we take a look back at the career of Northern Colorado women's soccer great Adrienne Jordan.

Jordan, who played at Northern Colorado from 2012-15, earned All-Big Sky First Team laurels three times during her soccer career at Greeley while being named the league's Defensive Player of the Year twice. Jordan earned All-Tournament Team honors in 2015 after guiding Northern Colorado to its first Big Sky title in soccer which led to the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance later that season. Jordan was inducted into Northern Colorado's Hall of Fame in 2020 and has stayed active with the soccer program by helping facilitate conversations with the team about racism and racial injustice.

Following her time with Northern Colorado, Jordan became the first Big Sky player drafted in the NWSL, selected 35th overall by the Chicago Red Stars in 2016. The defender played with the United States U-23 team in the 2017 La Manga Cup, while making her return to the NWSL in 2020 for the OL Reign, based in Tacoma, Washington. Jordan has also played several seasons overseas, making stops in multiple European leagues including the WPL (England's top division). The former Bear currently plays for SC Sand in Frauen-Bundesliga (Germany's top division).

Prior to attending Northern Colorado, Jordan was a letterwinner in soccer, swimming, track and basketball at Rampart High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
