GREELEY, Colo. (November 6, 2022) – The Big Sky Conference has handed out four trophies to this point of the 2022-23 athletics calendar, and thus far all four of them have found a home in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Today was the most recent example, as the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona claimed the 2022 Big Sky Conference Women's Soccer Tournament Championship title in a penalty kick shootout against the Idaho Vandals, 4-3, after the match was scoreless going into it.
This marks NAU's first tournament title since 2014. It is their fourth in program history.
With a clean sheet and seven saves, NAU's Trinity Corcoran was named Tournament Most Valuable Player.
It was a truly defensive matchup, as Idaho's Kira Witte made six saves in goal for the Vandals
Both of NAU's matches in the tournament went to penalty kicks, and they emerged victorious in both.
The 'Jacks will advance with a 10-5-4 record, where they also finished 7-1 in Big Sky Conference play.
