2022 #BigSkyFB Weekly Recap: Week 10

November and winter weather has arrived in the Big Sky

FARMINGTON, Utah (Nov. 6, 2022) - No. 2 Sacramento State topped No. 5 Weber State on the road to stay undefeated, while No. 16 Montana returned to the win column on a snowy night in Missoula to highlight Week 10 action in the Big Sky. Below is a recap of every Big Sky football game from Week 10.

#2 Sacramento State 33, #5 Weber State 30

OGDEN (Nov. 5, 2022) – Asher O'Hara scored three touchdowns and racked up nearly 250 yards of total offense as No. 2 Sacramento State topped No. 5 Weber State 33-30 on a cold and rainy day in Ogden. With the victory on Saturday, the Hornets remain undefeated at 9-0 on the year and have won their last 17 Big Sky games dating back to 2019. Sacramento State's nine-game winning streak also becomes the longest in school history, surpassing eight-game streaks in 1966, this year, and last season.

MOSCOW (Nov. 5, 2022) – Hayden Hatten caught four touchdown passes to lead No. 15 Idaho past visiting Eastern Washington 48-16 on Saturday. Between the second half of the Sacramento State game last week and the first half of the EWU game, Hatten has scored seven total touchdowns overall. As a team, the Vandals racked up 531 yards of offense, including 308 yards rushing, while limiting the Eagles to just 278 yards of offense and 36 yards rushing on the day.

HILLSBORO (Nov. 5, 2022) – Portland State scored 35 unanswered points to down Northern Colorado 35-21 and earn its second straight win as the Vikings improved to 4-5 overall and 3-3 in conference play. Dante Chachere passed for 269 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Vikings, while Emmanuel Daigbe and Jobi Malary combined for 166 on the ground. 

#3 Montana State 41, Northern Arizona 38

FLAGSTAFF (Nov. 5, 2022) – No. 3 Montana State survived an upset bid on the road as the Bobcats topped Northern Arizona 41-38 thanks to a Blake Glessner field goal as time expired. Tommy Mellott led the Bobcats with 179 yards passing, 119 yards rushing and four total touchdowns, with his biggest play of the day coming on a 64-yard strike to Taco Dowler with time winding down to set up the Glessner game-winning field goal. The two teams combined for 1,023 yards of offense on Saturday, with 41 points scored after halftime. 

UC Davis 43, Idaho State 3

DAVIS (Nov. 5, 2022) – UC Davis won its fourth-straight game after a convincing 43-3 victory over Idaho State. Ulonzo Gilliam Jr. scored two touchdows for UC Davis to become the all-time leading scorer in program history, as the Aggie running back rushed for 132 yards on the ground to notch his 21st career 100-yard rushing game. UC Davis has now scored 40 or more points in four straight games for the first time since 2000.

MISSOULA (Nov. 5, 2022) – It was a Winter Wonderland in Missoula on Saturday night, as No. 16 Montana shutout visiting Cal Poly 57-0 to return to the win column. Montana's offense finished with 695 yards, the second-most for a single-game in program history, as the Griz defense and wintery conditions limited the Mustangs to under 200 yards of offense. Nick Ostmo rushed for 221 yards and two scores, as he became Montana's first 200-yard runner since Dalton Sneed in 2018.
