#BigSkyFB Goes Five Deep Once Again for FCS Playoffs

Sacramento State was awarded the No. 2 seed for the FCS Playoffs

FARMINGTON, Utah (Nov. 20, 2022) - The Big Sky Conference earned five FCS Playoff selections once again, as the conference repeated its league-high set from a season ago. The 24-team field was announced Sunday live on ESPNU.

Big Sky Co-Champions Sacramento State and Montana State earned national seeds, with the Hornets slotted at No. 2 and the Bobcats at No. 4 as the pair will earn first-round byes. Weber State, Montana and Idaho also earned playoff berths, with all three in action on Saturday, Nov. 27, while the Wildcats and Griz were awarded home games to open the first round

Sacramento State (11-0, 8-0 Big Sky)
2nd Round | vs. Davidson/Richmond (Dec. 3 at 3 p.m. MT on ESPN+)

Sacramento State finished the regular season with a perfect 11-0 record and won its third Big Sky title in as many seasons played and have now won 19 straight conference games which is the second longest in league history. The Hornets will receive a first-round bye and then welcome the winner of Davidson-Richmond on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 3 p.m. MT. Tickets for the playoff game will go on sale on Monday, Nov. 21. Montana State (10-1, 8-0 Big Sky)
2nd Round | vs. Weber State-North Dakota (Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. MT on ESPN+)
Montana State finished the regular season with a 10-1 mark overall and won its first Big Sky title since 2012 as the Bobcats share co-champion honors with Sacramento State. Montana State has won its last 17 games at Bobcat Stadium, which is the longest streak in school history and longest current home streak in the FCS. The Bobcats will receive a first-round bye and then welcome the winner of Weber State-North Dakota on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 1 p.m. MT. 

Weber State (9-2, 6-2 Big Sky)
1st Round | vs. North Dakota (Nov. 26 at 2 p.m. MT on ESPN+)

Weber State finished the regular season 9-2 overall, as the Wildcats return to the FCS Playoffs for the sixth time in the last seven seasons. The Wildcats will host the North Dakota Fighting Hawks in the first round of the FCS Playoffs on Saturday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m. MT, with the winner facing No. 4-seeded Montana State in the second round. Tickets for the first-round playoff game will go on sale on Monday, Nov. 21. Idaho (7-4, 6-2 Big Sky)
1st Round | at Southeastern Louisiana (Nov. 26 at 5 p.m. MT on ESPN+)

Idaho finished the regular season 7-4 overall, as the Vandals earned their first FCS Playoff appearance since 1995 and 12th overall. The Vandals will travel to Southeastern Louisiana in the first round of the FCS Playoffs on Saturday, Nov. 26, at 5 p.m. MT, with the winner facing No. 6-seeded Samford in the second round. Montana (7-4, 4-4 Big Sky)
1st Round | vs. Southeast Missouri State (Nov. 26 at 8 p.m. MT on ESPN2)

Montana finished the regular season 7-4 overall, as the Griz earned their record 26th straight FCS Playoff appearance. Montana will host Southeast Missouri State in the first round of the FCS Playoffs on Saturday, Nov. 26, at 8 p.m. MT, with the winner facing No. 3-seeded North Dakota State in the second round. The Griz will also play once again in the national spotlight, with the game airing around the country on ESPN 2. Tickets for Montana's first round playoff game will go on sale to the general public at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20, at GrizTix.com and will remain on sale through Saturday at halftime of the game.
