NAU's Berrios Wins #BigSkySoccer Coach of the Year

Berrios led NAU to its first regular-season title since 2010 as the Lumberjacks closed out the year on a seven-match win streak

FARMINGTON, Utah (Oct. 31, 2022) – Northern Arizona's Alan Berrios has been named the 2022 Big Sky Soccer Coach of the Year, as voted on by the league’s coaches.

Berrios led NAU to its first regular-season title since 2010 as the Lumberjacks closed out the year on a seven-match win streak. The Lumberjacks, who were picked to finish fourth in the preseason poll, rose to the top of the conference after posting a 7-1 record in league action this season.

The Coach of the Year honor is the first for NAU since Andre Luciano won it in back-to-back seasons in 2008 and 2009.

The top-seeded Lumberjacks will take on the winner of Sacramento State-Weber State on Friday, Nov. 4 to open their play in the 2022 Big Sky Soccer Championship. First kick for that match is slated at 2:00 p.m. MT.

The 2022 Big Sky Soccer Championship officially gets underway on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 11:00 a.m. MT, from the University of Northern Colorado. All matches from Greeley, Colorado, will stream on ESPN+. For more information on the tournament, click here
