Big Sky Launches “FACTS: A Competitive Advantage” Campaign to Combat COVID-19 and Vaccine Misinformation

FARMINGTON, Utah (Aug. 30, 2021) - In an effort to combat misinformation about COVID-19, the Big Sky Conference has created the FACTS: A Competitive Advantage campaign, with the goal of providing access to accurate information and giving student-athletes and member institutions the opportunity to continue to compete at a high level without disruption to their season or their safety.

The league has set up a special landing page dedicated to addressing misinformation and providing resources for those who may have questions about COVID-19. Documents and panel discussions will be updated regularly.

“For more than a year our Health & Safety Committee has recommended protocols for how our teams can practice and compete safely, and their expertise has been invaluable as we navigate the pandemic,” Commissioner Tom Wistrcill said. “Some of our committee members created this content to communicate with not only our current student-athletes and coaches but also the general public about the coronavirus and vaccinations to ensure that everyone can access accurate and timely information in order to make educated decisions.”

In addition to the Big Sky's resource page about COVID-19, the league hosted a special expert panel that discussed numerous topics about the pandemic, the vaccine and some myths surrounding COVID-19. To watch videos and learn more about the expert panel, click here.
