#BigSkyFB Kickoff Preview: Sac State

Dotson currently ranks seventh in program history for career rushing yards

FARMINGTON, Utah (July 9, 2021) - With the annual Big Sky Football Kickoff just weeks away, we will feature representatives from all 13 teams that will be attending the event on July 24-26 in Spokane, Washington. Next up, we have the Sacramento State Hornets.

The Hornets will be represented by running back Elijah Dotson and linebacker Marcus Hawkins later this month at the Big Sky Football Kickoff.

Dotson, who earned back-to-back All-Big Sky First Team honors in 2018 and 2019, currently ranks seventh in program history for career rushing yards and enters the 2021 season less than 500 yards from capturing fourth place. Dotson was very versitle in Sac State's last full season in 2019, after racking up nearly 1,500 all-purpose yards and scoring 11 touchdowns.

Hawkins earned All-Big Sky Second Team honors in his debut season with the Hornets in 2019. The linebacker led the squad in tackles as well after racking up 81, while finishing the year with 9.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, an interception and forced fumble. Hawkins matched his season-high in tackles three times, earning 10 stops against Fresno State, Eastern Washington and UC Davis in 2019.

Sac State will open the season on Saturday, Sept. 4, as the Hornets travlel to Dixie State.
