Canard, Morgan-King, Morris and Roosma Earn Final #BigSkyTF Weekly Honors for 2021 Season
FARMINGTON, Utah (May 10, 2021) – With the start of the 2021 Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships just days away, the league office has announced the final recipients of the various Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards for the season.
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week – Emily Morgan-King (Weber State)
Running the top time in the women’s 200-meter last week, Weber State’s Emily Morgan-King has earned Women’s Track Athlete of the Week honors.
Morgan-King ran a 23.91 in the 200-meter at the Weber State Twilight Invitational to sit at the top of the Big Sky rankings heading into the championships. Morgan-King also has the top 100-meter time in the league to this point with a 11.51. She ran a 11.49 last week, but it was wind-aided and will not count toward NCAA Regional qualifying (TFFRS).
She was also on WSU’s 4x100 team that ran a 47.02 at the same meet.

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week – Justin Roosma (Eastern Washington)
Running the third-best 800-meter in the Big Sky this season, Eastern Washington’s Just Roosma has earned Men’s Track Athlete of the Week honors.
Roosma clocked a 1:50.31 at the 2021 Whitworth Twilight, placing him behind only two NAU runners in the 800-meter rankings.
It was also the fifth-best time in EWU history.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week – Tanessa Morris (Montana)
Winning her sixth meet of the season in the hammer throw, Montana’s Tanessa Morris has been named Big Sky Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Tom Gage Classic.
Morris threw a personal best of 61.61m (202’ 1”) to solidify her spot on the top of the Big Sky rankings heading into the championships. She is also now ranked No. 23 in the NCAA West Region.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week – Cody Canard (Weber State)
Weber State freshman Cody Canard won the javelin at the Weber State Twilight last week, and his mark was good enough to earn him Big Sky Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Canard hit a 65.22m (214’ 0”) to move up to the No. 4 spot in the Big Sky Conference rankings heading into the championships this week. It is the sixth-best javelin throw in Weber State history.
