EWU's Aiken Jr. Repeats as #BigSkyMBB Player of the Week
FARMINGTON, Utah (February 22, 2021) – Eastern Washington junior Kim Aiken Jr. posted two impressive performances last week in a conference sweep over Montana to repeat as the Big Sky Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
After earning the honor last week, Aiken Jr. continued his hot streak in two 90-76 victories over the Griz for Eastern Washington’s first season sweep of Montana since 2003. He averaged 24.5 points and nine rebounds and shot 64.5 percent from the field, 63.6 percent from three-point range, and 80 percent from the free throw line across the two games.
In Thursday’s home win, Aiken Jr. shot 6-of-6 from inside the arc and 3-of-6 from behind the three-point line to finish with 21 points, eight rebounds, and four steals.
He recorded his 20th career double-double in Saturday’s road victory in Missoula. He scored a career-high 28 points to go along with 10 rebounds, two blocks, two steals, and two assists to lead Eastern Washington. He shot 8-of-14 overall, 4-of-5 from three-point range, and 8-of-9 from the free throw line.
Aiken Jr. now has 23 double-figure rebounding performances and 11 performances with at least 20 points in his career.
He is the first player to earn back-to-back weekly honors this season.
With another conference sweep under its belt, this time over the Montana Griz, Eastern Washington extended its winning streak to nine and is in sole possession of first place in the Big Sky standings with an 11-2 conference record.
