FARMINGTON, Utah (November 23, 2021) – Montana forward Carmen Gfeller has been named the ROAR Organic #BigSkyWBB Player of the Week by the conference office. Gfeller led Montana to a 2-0 record last week, including victories over North Dakota and North Dakota State.
The junior from Colfax, Wash., averaged 13 points on 71 percent shooting and 10 rebounds as Montana picked up a two-game road sweep.
On Thursday, Gfeller had eight points and 10 rebounds in Montana's 72-51 win at North Dakota. She shot 4-of-6 from the field in the game, but her presence on the boards made the difference. Out of her 10 rebounds, two of them came on the offensive glass.
In Saturday's 65-63 victory over North Dakota State, Gfeller's double-double performance helped Montana to the two-point victory. She recorded 18 points and 10 rebounds for her third career double-double and the second one of the season. Gfeller also hit the game-winning shot against the Bison with 1.6 seconds remaining.
Gfeller was 12-and-17 on the week to total 26 points and had three blocked shots and two assists.
Others Nominated: Lianna Tillman, Sacramento State; Esmeralda Morales, Portland State; Louise Forsyth, Idaho; Jaydia Martin, Eastern Washington; Lizzy Williamson, Southern Utah; Emily Rodabaugh, Northern Arizona; Emma Torbert, Weber State
