Shaheed Named Stats Perform FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week

Shaheed is the first Wildcat to win Stats Perform National Player of the Week honors since 2016

CHICAGO (Nov. 1, 2021) - Stats Perform FCS recognized Weber State's Rashid Shaheed as its National Special Teams Player of the Week, after his record-setting performance this past Saturday at Idaho State.

Shaheed is the first Wildcat to win a Stats Perform National Player of the Week honor since 2016. Earlier this season, Eastern Washington's Eric Barriere was named the Stats Perform National Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 18.

In addition to winning national honors, Shaheed was also named the Big Sky Football Special Teams Player of the Week. The honor was the fourth of his prolific career.

Shaheed made history on Saturday at Idaho State with his 98-yard kickoff return for a score, earning his seventh career kickoff return touchdown and setting the FCS career record in the process. Shaheed returned four kickoffs for an average 43.5 yards per return, while hauling in four receptions for 88 yards and a score. Shaheed finished the day with 290 all-purpose yards to become just the fourth player in program history to eclipse the 5,000 career all-purpose yard mark at Weber State.

Shaheed and the Wildcats host Portland State on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 1:00 p.m. MT, as Weber State seeks its third-straight win. The contest will stream on ESPN+.
