EWU Jumps Montana in Both National Polls

Eagles ranked No. 4 this week

FARMINGTON, Utah (Oct. 4, 2021) - Big Sky football continues to rank high in the national polls, as Eastern Washington leapfrogged Montana to become the highest-ranked team in the league heading into Week 6 as the Eagles climbed to No. 4 following their win over Montana.

The Big Sky had four teams in the Top 10 of the Stats Perform Top 25 poll this past week, which was the most for any conference, with EWU at No. 4, Montana at No. 6, UC Davis at No. 7 and Montana State rounding out the Top 10 group at No. 10. Weber State was slotted at 19th in the poll after the Wildcats got back into the win column.

In the AFCA Coaches Top 25, EWU and Montana also came in at fourth and sixth overall, while UC Davis and Montana State were slotted at No. 8 and No. 11. The coaches tabbed Weber State at No. 18 once again this week. Additionally, EWU received two first-place votes in the AFCA Coaches poll.

EWU overcame a 21-10 deficit entering the fourth quarter to knock off Montana 34-28 in thrilling fashion on ESPN2, as the Eagles improved to 5-0 overall to equal the program's best start since 1984.

Also improving to 5-0 this past Saturday was UC Davis, who staved off an upset bid from Idaho. The 5-0 start matches the 2004 team for the best start by a UC Davis team in the program's past 20 years.
