FARMINGTON, Utah (Nov. 1, 2021) – The 2021 Big Sky Soccer All-Conference Team and individual award winners were announced Monday by the conference office, with 40 student-athletes earning recognition as voted on by the league's head coaches. Coaches could not vote for their own players.
Northern Colorado's Lexi Pulley was named Big Sky Offensive MVP along with being the Golden Boot winner, which is awarded to the highest-scoring player in conference action. Pulley leads the league with 29 points and 12 goals this season. In 2018 Pulley was named one of the top 100 freshmen in the country by TopDrawerSoccer.com and finished her freshman season as the third-leading scorer in the Big Sky Conference.
The Big Sky Defensive MVP went to Northern Colorado as well, with senior defender Maddie Duren claiming the honor for the Bears. Duren was a part of one of the top defensive units in the conference, and her defensive front finished third in goals-against average with 1.11 to help lead UNC to a regular-season title.
Montana's Camellia Xu was named the Big Sky Goalkeeper of the Year, following a sensational season for the freshman. Xu won the league's defensive player of the week honor six times on the year, while leading the Big Sky in shutouts (9), goals-against average (0.67) and save percentage (.869). Nationally, Xu is tied for fourth in shutouts, 10th in save percentage and 28th in goals-against average.
Weber State's Morgan Furmaniak was named the Big Sky Top Newcomer of the Year to round out Monday's awards. Furmaniak had a total of six goals this season and was third in assists (.444). The freshman started 14 out of 16 games played and totaled 889 minutes for the Wildcats.
In All-Conference Team voting, Northern Colorado and Montana were tied for the league lead with four first-team honorees, followed by two selections for Sacramento State. Eastern Washington and Weber State each had one player on the top team. Overall, Northern Colorado, Montana and Sacramento State totaled five all-conference selections. Eastern Washington and Weber followed with three, Northern Arizona with two and Idaho secured one.
