Hamilton, Whitney, Sorensen, and Corbett Named #BigSkyTF Athletes of the Week
FARMINGTON, Utah (January 26, 2021) – Montana State's Duncan Hamilton and Lucy Corbett, along with Weber State's Caleb Whitney and Kate Sorensen, received #BigSkyTF Athlete of the Week honors for their performances this past week.
Hamilton was named the men's track athlete of the week, and Corbett was named the women's field athlete of the week.
Whitney got the nod for men's field athlete of the week honors, and Sorensen was honored as the women's track athlete of the week.
Hamilton put together a strong effort in Montana State's indoor debut during MSU's dual on Friday versus Idaho State. Hamilton finished first in the mile with an altitude adjusted time of 4:05.69. That mark is the top time on the Big Sky performance list and currently ranks him 16th among all Division I men's runners.
Corbett had one of the standout performances during MSU's dual versus Idaho State on Friday. Corbett easily cleared her first two heights in the high jump, then took a school-record mark of 5-feet-10 inches (1.78m). She cleared the bar on her first try to top Janet Claypool's record of 5-09.75 set in 1997.
Corbett was previously tied for second in program history with a previous career-high of 5-09.25. Corbett sits atop the Big Sky performance list and tied for 11th on the NCAA indoor championship qualifying list.
Whitney participated in the men's Heptathlon at the Air Force Invitational over the weekend. Whitney finished in second place, earning 5,189 points and a new personal best. This performance is currently ranked first in the Big Sky.
Sorensen participated in the 400 meters at the Air Force Invitational over the weekend and recorded a second-place finish with a time of 55.52. Sorensen also participated In the 60-meters hurdles, where she placed third with a time of 8.47. This time set a new personal best for Sorensen and puts her first in the Big Sky rankings.
