24 #BigSkyTF Student-Athletes Earn USTFCCA All-Academic Honors
NEW ORLEANS, La. (July 16, 2020) – 24 Big Sky student-athletes received individual all-academic honors on Thursday afternoon from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the 2020 NCAA Division 1 Track and Field Season.
To be eligible to receive academic honors from the USTFCCCA, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale, having completed two semesters at their institution, and finished in the top 96 in an individual championship event this past year.
Among the athletes that were honored this year, 15 of them were from the men’s side and nine of them from the women’s side.
The school with the most student-athletes honored this season was Northern Arizona. NAU had eight individuals receive academic honors, seven men and one female.
Also, on the men’s side, two schools tied for the second most student-athletes on the all-academic list with both Montana State and Idaho placing three athletes.
Portland State and Idaho State each had one student-athlete receive individual recognition.
For the women, two schools tied for the most student-athletes to find their way onto the list. Both Idaho State and Southern Utah had two athletes receive all-academic honors.
One student-athlete was named all-academic from Eastern Washington, Idaho, Montana State, and Portland State.
A total of 659 women and 452 men from around the country were honored with today’s announcement.
Also honored with today’s announcement was the USTFCCCA’s All-Academic Team award. Nine women’s and nine men’s programs from the Big Sky were honored.
To be eligible, a team must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for all student-athletes that are on the institutions' NCAA squad list.
