Idaho’s Patino Named Big Sky Women’s Golfer of the Week

FARMINGTON, Utah (March 12, 2020) – Idaho’s Valeria Patino has been named the Big Sky Conference Women’s Golf Player of the Week, announced today by the league office.

Patino, a junior for the Vandals, led the way for Idaho and helped the team finish in a tie for fifth at the BYU at Entrada Classic in St. George, Utah. She ended the tournament tied for seventh place after shooting a 5-over score of 221 (76, 75, 70). Patino’s third-round score of 70 tied the best of the day with the tournament runner-up from Princeton, Tiffany Kong.  Only two student-athletes broke 70 during the tournament.

It is the first weekly honor of the season for Patino and the second of her career.

Next up for Idaho is the Hawkeye-El Tigre Invitational from Mar. 19-21 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
