SUU's Fausett Garners #BigSkyMBB Weekly Accolades
FARMINGTON, Utah (December 7, 2020) – After delivering clutch plays down the stretch to lift Southern Utah to a 2-0 sweep of Montana last week, junior forward Maizen Fausett has been named the Big Sky Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Fausett averaged 15.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks to help the Thunderbirds to a 2-0 league start over a Montana squad that was predicted second in the Big Sky preseason polls.
On Thursday, Fausett finished with 14 points and hit a pair of free throws with 48 seconds left to put Southern Utah in front at 61-60.
In game two of the series, the Saratoga Springs, Utah, native followed with 16 points, nine boards and two steals. Fausett also sparked a late 6-0 run for the Thunderbirds with a dunk at the 1:23 mark to help them pull in front.
Fausett shot 50 percent on the week, going 10-of-20 from the floor while firing 78 percent from the free-throw line on 7-of-9 shooting.
The Big Sky weekly honor is the first of his career.
