Portland State’s Jordan Stotler named #BigSkyWBB Ready Nutrition Player of the Week
FARMINGTON, Utah (January 7, 2020) – Portland State senior Jordan Stotler has been named the Big Sky Ready Nutrition Player of the Week for her performance this past week in two games.
Stotler led the Vikings to a weekend sweep of Idaho and Eastern Washington while finishing a rebound shy on Saturday of recording back-to-back double-doubles.
Stotler averaged a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for the weekend. Stotler filled the stat sheet beyond those two categories as she finished with five assists and 3.5 blocks per game.
Against the Vandals, Stotler tied her career-high for assists in a game as she dished out four in the Vikings’ 74-53 victory on Thursday. She surpassed that on Saturday to set a new career-high in the category. Against the Eagles, Stotler recorded six assists to help the Vikings to a 75-58 victory over Eastern Washington.
Stotler continued to be a dominating force on the defensive side of the ball. Stotler recorded five blocks against the Vandals on Thursday and two more against the Eagles on Saturday. Stotler currently leads the Big Sky with three blocks per game, an average that also ranks her 11th in the nation. Stotler and the Viking defense held both of their opponents to under 30 percent shooting last weekend. Eastern Washington started 2-of-32 from the floor against the Vikings Saturday, with Stotler anchoring the Viking defense down low.
Stotler also leads the Big Sky with 6.1 defensive rebounds per game, while she ranks fifth overall with 7.6 rebounds per game. She recorded 11 defensive rebounds in the Vikings' win over the Vandals Thursday, when the Vikings tied a season-high with a plus-16 rebounding margin.
