EWU's Peatling Captures Second #BigSkyMBB Weekly Honor
FARMINGTON, Utah (January 28, 2020) – After powering Eastern Washington to a pair of key overtime wins last week at home, senior forward Mason Peatling has been named the Big Sky Conference Men’s Basketball Ready Nutrition Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Peatling was instrumental in guiding the Eagles to victories over two of the league’s top teams in Southern Utah and Northern Colorado. The senior from Melbourne, Australia, recorded double-doubles in both contests to average 25.5 points, 16.5 rebounds, six assists and four blocks per game on the week.
Peatling opened the week with a 30-point outing in an 81-78 win over Southern Utah. He eclipsed 1,000 career points in the victory, reaching the milestone with his second basket in overtime to put the Eagles ahead. Peatling sent the game to overtime with a three-pointer with 24 seconds remaining, helping EWU erase an 11-point second half deficit. For the game, Peatling totaled 11 rebounds, five blocks and five assists while going 11-for-16 from the floor.
On Monday, Peatling came three assists shy of a triple-double with 21 points, 22 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks in an 89-84 win over Northern Colorado.
On the week, Peatling went 20-for-38 from the floor (53 percent) while knocking down 10-of-14 (71 percent) from the charity stripe.
The Big Sky weekly honor is the second of his career, first earning accolades on Dec. 17, 2019.
